About Nick:
Nick was first licensed in 1974 at 14 years old and was active in the Wimbledon and District Amateur Radio Society as a teenager. He studied electrical engineering at Sheffield University where he was disqualified from the rag (charity) boat race when the morse code that he was sending by whistle, from the radio club raft, caused the other competitors to start prematurely.

Nick is a football fan, supporting Sheffield United; when rivals West Ham came with Sergey Rebrov (UT5UDX) as a striker, Nick took an air-horn and sent a few chosen phrases by CW to put him off. Sheffield United won.

Professionally, Nick is a Chartered Electrical Engineer (FIET), with knowledge of industrial process control, from the manufacture of edible chocolate to the treatment of inedible sewage. Unfortunately he can claim little radio expertise from his work.

He has enjoyed travelling for the RSGB Commonwealth Contest for the past three years, with some success. Also he is currently establishing a modest contest station on the east coast of England.

Nick is married to Ruth and they have two daughters and a son.
